Today, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park celebrated its 20th anniversary. On this occasion a revolutionary new Silver mask cover was presented, to help in the current and future pandemics.

In the exciting event, previews of innovative new masks developments were presented by the most reputable Hong Kong mask manufacturers.

Shan Ho Asia Pacific Limited, in partnership with KC Wearable Technologies Srl. in Italy presented the Anti-X Silverguard® mask cover called Infinity. This new innovation was highly praised by the audience.

The integration of sound systems in hats, beanies and caps is another example of how ordinary fashion products can be made more functional and exciting. We provide the readymade hats in private label production, or just the sound systems as components, for integration. We work with three types of sound systems. There are wireless speakers, earplugs, and vibration emitters.

The last of the three is completely new. It is based on what is becoming known as “bone conducting technology”. The sound is no longer transmitted through sound waves but through vibration. The hat creates a direct contact of a vibration emitter to the upper cheekbone, resulting in crystal clear sound – without the use of earplugs. For customers this is a totally new experience, as they hear music or a phone call, while also still hearing their surroundings.

This new technology is also featured in our range of sunglasses, along with other functions, including an integrated camera for pictures and videos.

For years, the Italian specialist supplier KC – Wearable Technologies from Lonato del Garda, with offices in China and Wolfratshausen, has been working intensively on wearable technologies.

The Silverguard series is new to the portfolio. These are textiles, which consist of 20% pure silver. “It has been proven that these products destroy coronaviruses in a very short time,” says Dominik Kufner, who heads the German subsidiary KC Textil GmbH in Geretsried. In order to investigate the effects of silver textiles on coronaviruses, the company states that it has worked with the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Venezie (IZSVe). The institute conducts prevention, research and services in the fields of animal health and food safety.

The subject of the study was the Silverguard products Jupiter, Earth and Vega.

“The results were remarkable in terms of both the effectiveness and the speed of viral destruction,” said Kufner.

Particularly astonishing results were recorded with the product Jupiter: This woven material produced an immediate impairment of viral reproduction and a viral destruction rate of 68% in the first five minutes. After 15 minutes, the viral destruction rate was 93%.

“No other textile product known to us has ever shown viral destruction at this rate.”

The fabric is suitable, for example, as a pocket lining, but it can also be used to make silver pouches, handkerchiefs and other accessories.

“Vega”, an elastic knitted material, is suitable for bags, gloves and wipes.

All three materials can also be used in antiviral facemasks.

We now have a very exciting announcement to all current and future users of Silverguard products. In cooperation with the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie (IZSVe), KC Wearable Technologies Srl. has explored the effects of silver textiles on Coronaviruses. The IZSVe is a public health authority in northern Italy, which carries out prevention, research and services in the areas of animal health and food safety.

The studies have now been concluded. The Silverguard products „Jupiter“, „Earth“ and „Vega“ were subject of this analysis, including pre-trials and final laboratory tests. The results were remarkable, in terms of both the effectiveness and the speed of viral destruction.

While all products have performed well, the woven pocketing product “Jupiter” exceeded all expectations. It caused an immediate impairment of viral reproduction and a viral destruction rate of 68% in only the first five minutes. Full destruction occurred after only 15 minutes. Most textiles with anti-viral finishings take several hours to do this kind of damage. This proves our theory that the very high pure silver content of over 20%, results in an amazing speed of viral destruction.

We have spent these last months in heavy research on the effects that silver textiles can have on different bacteria and viruses. We were excited find that they are highly effective and very safe!

We have therefore developed two exciting new products, for two different Covid-19 related applications:

1. “Earth” is a silver nonwoven product which is used as a anti-viral filtration layer, inside facemasks.
2. “Jupiter” is a silver pocketing product which is used to make sterilizing facemask pockets, in jackets, handbags, or trousers.

Both innovations consist of metallized Polyamide, with over 20% pure silver content (99,9%). This is what makes them so much more effective than textiles with anti-bacterial finishes, which render the products with less than 1% silver.
Re-usable cloth facemasks can become safer, more sustainable and more effective than their disposable nonwoven counterparts and silver pockets can keep them sterilized.
